NEET UG 2027: Exam Date, Registration, Eligibility, Pattern & Counselling
NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate) is the single national entrance exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS and BSc Nursing in India. It is conducted every year by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for students from every state.
Latest update (13 October 2026): NTA has not announced the NEET UG 2027 exam date or registration schedule yet. Registration is expected in February 2027 and the exam in early May 2027 (around 2 May, tentative). There are reports of a possible shift to Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, which is not confirmed until NTA publishes the information bulletin. NEET UG 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Final rules will be in the NTA bulletin. Based on recent years:
- Age: At least 17 years on or before 31 December of the year of admission. No upper age limit, as per recent bulletins.
- Subjects: Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.
- Minimum marks in PCB:
- General: 50%
- OBC, SC, ST: 40%
- PwD (General): 45%
- Appearing students: Students appearing in Class 12 in 2027 can apply.
- Nationality: Indian citizens, NRIs, OCIs and foreign nationals can apply under the rules in the bulletin.
- Attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts, as per recent bulletins.

When registration opens:
- Go to neet.nta.nic.in.
- Click New Registration and enter name, mobile number and email.
- Log in with your application number and password.
- Fill in personal, academic and exam city details.

NEET Counselling 2027: How Admission Works
NEET gives you a rank. Your seat comes through counselling, which has two main parts:

NEET Counselling for Odisha Students
Odisha runs its own state counselling for the 85% state quota seats.
- Odisha domicile is generally required for state quota seats, so prepare your residence and domicile certificate early.
- Reservation follows the Odisha government's rules (SC, ST, SEBC and others), so keep your category certificates ready.
- State counselling is conducted by the state authority (in past years, the Directorate of Medical Education and Training, Odisha). Check the official notice for the website and dates.
- Well-known government medical colleges in Odisha include SCB Medical College (Cuttack), MKCG Medical College (Berhampur) and VIMSAR (Burla). AIIMS Bhubaneswar is filled through MCC.
Seat numbers, fees and the college list change every year. Check the latest counselling notice and the National Medical Commission (NMC) list before choosing.
Students from other states: the process is the same, but you must follow your own state's counselling website and domicile rules.
Preparation Tips for NEET UG 2027
- Make NCERT your base. Most Biology questions come from NCERT, and Biology carries 50% of the marks.
