What is OTET?
The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) is a state-level qualifying examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha. It determines the eligibility of candidates who wish to become government teachers in Odisha for Classes 1 to 8.
- Paper I — for candidates who want to teach Classes 1 to 5 (Primary Level)
- Paper II — for candidates who want to teach Classes 6 to 8 (Upper Primary Level)

OTET 2026 — Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years
- No upper age limit — candidates of any age above 21 can appear
Educational Qualification
For Paper I — Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5):Candidates must have one of the following:
- Senior Secondary (12th) with minimum 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)
- Senior Secondary with 45% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed (as per NCTE norms 2002)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
- Graduation + 2-year D.El.Ed
Candidates must have one of the following:
- Graduation with minimum 50% marks + 1-year B.Ed
- Graduation with 45% marks + 1-year B.Ed (NCTE norms)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 4-year B.El.Ed
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed
- Graduation with 50% marks + 1-year B.Ed (Special Education)
